Nextar Bakery to include cassava flour in bread baking

The Nextar Bakery has revealed that it would commence the  inclusion of High Quality Cassava Flour in baking bread and other confectionery.
The Managing Director of the Bakery, Mrs Bukola Adewumi disclosed this in Abuja during the official opening of the Bakery in Kubwa, Federal Capital Territory.
Recall that the government over the years have been making efforts to make bakers to include cassava flour in baking, especially bread baking.
This plan started during the era of Former President Olusegun Obasanjo and was sustained under former President Goodluck Jonathan.
The plan was to add value to cassava production by allowing bakers to use about 20 per cent of cassava flour in baking.
While speaking with journalists, Mrs Adewumi said it became necessary to add cassava flour in bread making because Nigeria is the largest producer of cassava globally.
She said adding value to cassava production and patronizing local production is of interest to the bakery, hence embracing cassava flour became necessary.
“We want to start as soon as we can to use cassava flour for baking bread and other confectionery because we know that Nigeria is blessed with cassava and we want to make use of it to make Nextar bread, we are hoping to use cassava for our production soon”, she said.
She, however, appealed to the government to create enabling environment and provide basic amenities like power so that industries like the Bakery can thrive.
“The Bakery with the production capacity of 60,000 loafs per day would engage additional 200 youths in the Federal Capital Territory ( FCT), Abuja.
“We strongly believe this will consequently increase the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of the government.
“With this ultra-modern bakery, we will not just increase our production capacity, but will continue to improve our daily outputs to satisfy our customers”, she added.
